description

This wrapped mini skirt is a rendition of the traditional sarong. Sarong is a traditional form of dress usually consists of a fabric that is wrapped around the waist, often worn in Southeast Asia. The fabric pattern is handwoven in traditional gingham pattern called 'Kao Mah'. The word 'Kao Mah' comes from Persia, 'Kamar Band', where Kamar means waist and band means to tie. The use of Kao Mah in Thailand is first found in Chiang Saen, the first Kingdom of Thais built around the 5th to the 6th century. They were traditionally worn as decorative waistbands and headwraps. The pattern of Kao Mah fabrics often comes in multi-coloured gingham check pattern.
